Dettmann remains inseparably linked to Berghain, a space that shaped the techno underground of an entire generation. His reduced, loop-based sound became a reference point within its architecture. DJ-Kicks, fabric, Ostgut Ton, Dekmantel — milestones of a path that has never followed trends.

With “My Own Shadow”, the focus shifts away from the pure club context, towards a more open, cinematic space. Sound, photography, fragments — collected over years, now reassembled. Remixes for Laibach and Boy Harsher stand for this expansion, as do works for Fever Ray, the Staatsballett Berlin and contributions to the soundtrack of The Matrix Resurrections.

My Own Shadow’s “Faultline EP” does not follow function. It creates space. Rhythms are present, but never dominant. The tension emerges in between. “Phase Sequence” opens with clear momentum — bass and texture in controlled friction. “Hall Of Mirrors” balances weight and warmth, movement and restraint, while “Lower Lodge” remains reduced and driving, with fleeting vocal fragments at the edges. Closing the EP, “Faultline” turns inward, remaining fragmented, unstable and deliberately unresolved.
